Scope: Architecture, Interior Architecture
On a constrained site, this corner terrace house optimises both functionality and comfort within its spatial limitations and keeping essential breathing room. Preserving the original floor slabs, the design incorporates modest extensions at the rear and side. The footprint balances between efficient expansion and respecting the surroundings.
Limited by horizontal expansion, vertical expansion includes a small attic and private lofts within the highest-level bedrooms. The staircase is relocated to the center in a strategic move to create space for a lift in the middle to future-proof the home. A reconfigured central corridor enhances cross ventilation, drawing air through the home while clearly separating public and private zones.
Generious openings in the facade provide ample daylight and ventilation, while cozy balconies, bay windows, and private corners connect the interior to the outdoors. The car porch seamlessly extends into a shaded outdoor verandah, blending utility with leisure.
This design harmonizes modern functionality with an appreciation for natural elements, creating a home that feels expansive, breathable, and attuned to its surroundings despite its limited site constraints.
The house is reharmonized.
