Scope: Architecture, Interior Architecture
The design expands the existing structure to meet the owner’s evolving spatial and functional needs while blending old and new elements. By reusing the main structure and adding new levels above, it increases space without altering the original foundation. A defining feature is the rotating timber screen on the east facade, a shading device that unifies the exterior and provides dynamic control over light and privacy.
The layout extends the house’s front and rear areas and features a central lightwell, which brings natural light deep into the home and promotes passive ventilation for a cooler interior. The staircase is redesigned with vertical bars that extend from floor to attic, creating an airy, light-filled structure that connects the levels and enhances spatial flow. Adjacent, a new lift provides easy access across floors and for future proofing.
Light-colored timber and warm, indirect lighting define the interiors, with clean, continuous lines creating a modern, cohesive aesthetic. This thoughtful approach transforms the house into a "space within a space," balancing privacy, openness, and a timeless appeal.
The house is rejuvenated.
